Our Services
There can be many components that make up a picture frame: frame moulding, glass, mounts, backboard and frame hardware.
Frame moulding comes in a variety of materials from "synthetic polymer" to soft woods, hard woods and a wide variety of finishes. These generally come in 3 metre lengths and are mitred to fit exactly the picture / mount that is being framed.
After the moulding has been cut it is then glued and pinned using an underpinner.
Mounts are sometimes added to a picture before framing, this has several purposes: it supports and protects the picture before framing and ensures it doesn't come into contact with the glass.
It can also be used to enhance the picture or to "size" pictures to a specific size. Mounts can also be cut with multiple windows showing several pictures in one frame.
Standard glass can be replaced with non reflective glass or UV filtered glass it can also be replaced by plastic glass.
Backboard can be made from pulpboard, hardboard or MDF, helping to support and protect the picture.
When everything is ready for assembly the glass is carefully cleaned, the picture / mount and backboard is pinned into the frame and then sealed with framing tape.
Hangers are then attached and the picture is strung ready to hang.
